AKU has offers academic programmes in nursing, medicine and education for and in countries in East Africa.
Job Summary: Â Â The Communications Specialist will be tasked with executing strategic communication and marketing plans to enhance the public image of The Aga Khan University in Uganda, including The Aga Khan University Hospital. This role aims to strengthen stakeholder relationships, engage media, and contribute to reputation management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft, implement, and evaluate internal and external communications plans to support communications priorities.
- Build strong strategic internal and external communication plans for AKU, U.
- Support media relations and event communications that will raise the profile of the University and its hospital locally and regionally.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with journalists, media houses, and bloggers in Uganda.
- Effective mentorship and coaching of internal stakeholders and teams.
- Efficient administration of marketing and communications functions.
- Develop an annual communications plan and budget.
- Content development for different communications materials and platforms.
- Management of the website and social media channels
- Coordination of crisis management communications
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business, or equivalent, from a recognized university
- Three to five years’ experience in marketing, communications, media relations, public relations, or related fields.
- Professional marketing qualification such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing (OM) or any other relevant professional qualification, will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in Luganda will be an added advantage.
