On behalf of our client in the manufacturing sector, we are seeking a competent and experienced CNC Operator to be based in Kampala, Uganda. Reports To: The Manufacturing Head Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda Job Summary: The CNC Operator shall be responsible for setting up machines, reading and interpreting technical drawings, monitoring operations, and performing quality checks to ensure that products meet industry standards. This role also requires accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and production guidelines. Main Duties and Responsibilities - Set up and operate CNC machines (lathes, milling machines, grinders, etc.).
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
- Load and secure raw materials and parts into machines.
- Monitor machine operations and make basic adjustments as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines.
- Inspect finished products using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Record production data and report defects or machine malfunctions.
- Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and quality control teams.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills - Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, or a related field.
- Understanding of CNC machine operation in the manufacturing industry.
- At least 5 years post qualification experience as a CNC Operator in the manufacturing industry.
- Basic knowledge of CNC programming is an added advantage.
- Ability to read technical drawings and use measuring instruments.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions and operational issues.
- Familiarity with operating and maintaining CNC machines.
- Ability to handle heavy materials and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Barriers to Success in Role - Limited or lack of knowledge about CNC machine operation.
- Inability to identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions and operational issues.
