Authorized to work in: Uganda (Eligible to work legally without visa or work permit sponsorship)
Target Hiring Salary: Starting from UGX 8,650,723 per month (before taxes)
Target Start Date: March 1, 2025
Contract Duration: 12 Months Contract with possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding

Role Summary
The Child Protection and Psychosocial Support (CP and PSS) Specialist will report to the Country Director and collaborate closely with Right To Play’s partners and team members. This role has a dotted line to the Global Child Protection and Psychosocial Support Lead, ensuring alignment with RTP’s global child protection priorities.
The CP and PSS Specialist supports the development and implementation of CP and PSS programs, provides technical guidance, and delivers training to staff and partners to ensure program quality in alignment with global and country strategies. This includes integrating CP principles like children’s participation into key programmatic responses such as Education, Gender, and SRHR.
The position involves regular travel to field locations.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
1. CP and PSS Program Innovation, Design and Development (35%)
• Provide technical support for project design and proposal development.
• Offer technical advice on child protection and PSS during project design and implementation.
• Collaborate to ensure CP and PSS plans are well-designed, budgeted, and aligned with strategic goals.
• Stay updated on CP and PSS policies, research, and best practices.
• Conduct needs assessments, focus group discussions, and risk assessments.
2. CP and PSS Technical Support, Training, and Capacity Building (35%)
• Develop CP and PSS training tools and resources.
• Integrate CP and PSS principles into training and resource development.
• Coordinate regular training on CP and PSS quality implementation and strategies.
• Build partnerships with NGOs and local actors to strengthen CP and PSS mechanisms.
3. CP and PSS Representation and Partnership (15%)
• Represent RTP in child protection networks, donor forums, and government bodies.
• Support strategic partnerships on CP and PSS.
• Facilitate CP and PSS awareness sessions in relevant forums.
4. Contribution to Global CP and PSS Policies and Processes (10%)
• Provide input into global CP and PSS work plans.
• Act as a focal point in global initiatives as needed.
• Support safeguarding integration and capacity-building efforts.
5. Other Tasks as Assigned (5%)
WHAT YOU’LL BRING (ESSENTIAL)
Education/Training:
• Master’s degree in Education, International Development, Social Work, Sociology, or related fields.
• Certificates in child rights and protection.
Experience:
• 5 years of experience in child-centered organizations, with 2 years in the field.
• Knowledge of Uganda’s Child Protection System.
• Familiarity with international CP standards and networks.
Competencies/Personal Attributes:
• Strong communication, project management, and partnership-building skills.
• Commitment to children’s rights and protection.
Technical Skills:
• Expertise in CP and PSS program design, tools, and training.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
Languages:
• Fluency in oral and written English.
