Position Summary
The Child Ministry & Outreach Officer (CMOO) oversees the holistic development, spiritual nurture, and educational tracking of children within our programs. This role serves as a vital bridge between vulnerable families, community leaders, and local church partners. Based in Bugiri, the CMOO manages both field outreach operations and the day-to-day care environment of our local children's facility. This includes providing direct leadership, daily operational management, and supervisory oversight to the essential support staff who keep the facility safe, clean, and nurturing.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

1. Facility Leadership & Staff Supervision

• Manage and mentor Bugiri-based facility support staff, including the Home Mother, Cook, Janitor, and Security Personnel, ensuring high standards of care, safety, and hygiene.
• Oversee daily operations of the Bugiri children's home, coordinating work schedules, meal planning, strict facility cleanliness, and preventative structural security.
• Conduct regular performance assessments and team meetings to maintain staff morale, resolve internal conflicts constructively, and uphold core organizational and Christian values.

2. Child Discipleship & Spiritual Care

• Implement Christ-centered learning activities and age-appropriate biblical curricula to foster deep, resilient spiritual growth in the children.
• Collaborate closely with the Home Mother to maintain a warm, structured, emotionally supportive, and physically sound home environment for resident children.
• Organize special spiritual focus programs such as Vacation Bible Schools (VBS), youth camps, and dedicated ministry events in cooperation with Bugiri church partners.

3. Bugiri Community Outreach & Family Engagement

• Execute field home visits across Bugiri communities to assess the physical, emotional, and social environments of the children, working closely with parents to build stronger family units.
• Coordinate community sensitization meetings to educate local families on child rights, safety, healthcare, hygiene, and cultivating personal accountability over dependency.
• Identify critical child protection concerns or medical emergencies in the field and collaborate with the Project Team Leader to deploy immediate intervention plans.

4. Sponsorship Coordination, Administration & General Duties

• Facilitate fluid correspondence between sponsored children and their international sponsors, managing timely letter writing, photos, and regular holistic progress updates.
• Maintain detailed and secure database records for every child, tracking academic reports, health records, and field home visit histories with strict confidentiality.
• Provide regular operational updates to the Project Team Leader regarding facility needs, administrative constraints, budget requirements, and staff performance metrics.
• Perform any other duties as may be appropriately assigned by the supervisor to support the overall expansion, operational success, and mission of the ministry.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Spiritual Alignment: Must be a mature, practicing Christian with a visible passion for the Gospel, an unwavering heart for vulnerable children, and high moral integrity.
• Education: Holds a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and Social Administration (SWASA), Child Development Studies, Development Studies, Human Resource Management, or a related humanitarian field.
• Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years of active experience in child ministries or NGO operations.
• Language Proficiency: Excellent written and spoken English. Fluency in Lusoga and Luganda is an added advantage as it is highly essential to communicate effectively with the local Bugiri community and leaders.
• Technical Competence: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Quick Books, Use of Cameras for managing staff shifts, rosters, and logging student performance parameters.
• Field Adaptability: Physically capable and eager to handle comprehensive field outreach across rural terrains while simultaneously balancing on-site administrative demands.
