JOB DETAILS:
The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) is seeking a dynamic and qualified individual for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is a senior-level opportunity to lead UTB in promoting Uganda as a competitive tourism destination.
Position Details:
• Job Title: Chief Executive Officer
• Salary Scale: T1
• Department: Chief Executive’s Office
• Duty Station: UTB Headquarters, Kampala
• Reports To: Board of Directors
• Contract Duration: Five years, renewable
Main Purpose of the Job:
To provide strategic and inspirational leadership to the UTB team, ensuring the organization achieves its mandate under the Tourism Act 2008. The CEO will develop a compelling vision and strategic direction for the board, deliver quality services, and promote Uganda as a leading tourist destination.
Key Result Areas:
1. Strategic Leadership:
o Development, implementation, and review of the strategic plan.
o Oversee tourism promotion strategies.
2. Governance and Partnerships:
o Build partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders.
o Provide leadership in governance and resource mobilization.
3. Operational Management:
o Financial and procurement management.
o Team performance management and research.
o Drive innovation and uphold industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Education:
o Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism, Economics, Law, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related fields from a recognized university.
o A Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related fields is an added advantage.
2. Experience:
o Minimum 10 years of working experience, including 7 years in tourism, hospitality, or marketing.
o Proven strategic leadership and track record of high-level management performance.
o Experience in stakeholder management, innovation, and organizational transformation.
Personal Attributes and Skills:
• Visionary leadership with a strong sense of integrity.
• Strategic thinker with excellent planning and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage complex relationships and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
• Strong knowledge of the tourism industry, marketing, and sustainable growth practices.
• Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• High-level communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
• Full-time role with occasional travel as required.
• Flexibility in working hours based on the job's demands.
