Responsibilities or duties
Chief Executive Officer
The CEO provides leadership and set the strategic direction for the hospital.
Responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the hospital.
Developing and managing the hospitalâs budget, monitoring financial performance, and ensuring financial sustainability.
Engaging with various stakeholders, including government officials, community leaders, healthcare providers, and patients. Building and maintaining positive relationships with these stakeholders is important for the hospitalâs success.
Ensuring high-quality healthcare services and patient safety is a critical responsibility. He/she would have to establish and monitor quality improvement initiatives, implement evidence-based practices, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines. Continuous evaluation and improvement of patient care outcomes would be a priority.
The CEO oversees the hospitalâs human resourceâs function. This involves attracting and retaining qualified staff, developing talent, and fostering a positive organizational culture. He/she would work closely with the HR department to implement effective recruitment strategies, performance management systems, and employee development programs.
The CEO represents the hospital in the community and maintains strong relationships with the public.
Crisis Management: In times of crisis or emergencies, such as disease outbreaks or natural disasters, the CEO would provide leadership and coordinate the hospitalâs response. This involves working closely with relevant authorities, implementing emergency protocols, and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and staff.
Medical Director Roles
Supports operations and administration of the Board by advising and informing Board members, and acting as a direct interface or link between the Board and staff.
Ensures high standards of performance of the Curative, Preventive, and Reproductive and Reproductive Medicine Care Services to the patients.
Is the chief professional advisor to the Board of Governors on all medical matters.
Regularly reviewing and ensuring organizational performance in all key strategic areas, responding appropriately, and updating the board on Quarterly basis.
Supervise and appraise members of the Hospital Management team.
Preparation of Annual Report (s) regarding medical activities for insertion in the Hospital Annual Analytical report.
To ensure proper data collection, recording and analysis by the institutionâs Records department and checking on its quality and consistency before submission to the required stakeholders.
Monitoring Medical Officers and Allied Professionalsâ call registers monthly and discipline them accordingly.
Liaising with the District Health Office, Diocesan Health Board, Registrar Allied Professional Council, UCMC and Ministry of Health for all matters concerning health, medical care and medical-legal issues.
And other duties assigned by internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Skills and competencies:
Organization skills, Guidance and counseling skills, Evaluation skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, Financial Management skills, Human Resource Management skills, Computer literacy skills, and Interpretation, Supervisory skills, research and report writing skills.
Experience needed
A minimum of 5 yearsâ experience in the Hospital three of which has been in a managerial position.
