Role Purpose The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Uganda, provides enterprise-wide leadership for commercial performance, operational execution, customer excellence, financial sustainability, and organizational culture. This role is accountable for long-term business success, impact delivery, and the continuous expansion of energy access across Uganda. The CEO will drive growth, scale systems and teams, deepen customer value, and enhance profitability while safeguarding mission and values. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Market Direction - Develop and deliver a country strategy aligned to company mission, growth targets, and Ugandaâs energy market landscape.
- Identify opportunities across rural, peri-urban, and urban markets and drive penetration strategies.
- Track regulatory, energy policy, and market ecosystem shifts to inform future decision-making and risk planning.
Commercial and Customer Growth - Lead commercial execution across sales, marketing, business development, and product diversification.
- Expand the customer base and drive higher customer lifetime value through retention, loyalty, and upgrade pathways.
- Strengthen Ugandaâs customer experience model, ensuring service reliability, responsiveness, efficiency, and trust.
Operational Excellence and Scale-Up Execution - Oversee end-to-end operations across supply chain, distribution, field service, after-sales support, digital operations, and collections.
- Implement robust systems and operational frameworks that improve speed, quality, and productivity.
- Drive digitization, automation, and analytics adoption to boost efficiency and reduce cost to serve.
Financial Management & Risk Oversight - Own country-level P&L performance, with accountability for revenue generation, cost management, profitability, and forecasting accuracy.
- Oversee capital allocation, asset management, and long-term financial sustainability.
- Strengthen internal controls, compliance, and risk management standards.
People Leadership & Organizational Culture - Build, empower, and mentor a high-performing, multi-functional leadership team.
- Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, inclusion, innovation, and purpose.
- Strengthen talent development pipelines and succession planning within Uganda.
Government, Ecosystem & Stakeholder Engagement - Build trusted relationships with regulators, government agencies, energy partners, financial partners, and community stakeholders.
- Represent the Uganda business in public forums, industry associations, and investor conversations.
- Establish a strong external presence aligned with brand reputation and company mission.
Candidate Profile Education - Bachelorâs degree required; Masterâs degree in Business, Energy, Finance, Engineering, Public Policy, or related field preferred.
Experience - 10â15+ years of progressive leadership experience, including country management or P&L ownership roles.
- Proven experience leading growth in energy, telecom, fintech, consumer electronics, manufacturing, or similar operational environments.
- Demonstrated success scaling commercial and operational systems within fast-growing businesses.
- Understanding of renewable energy business models (PAYGo, C&I solar, mini-grids, metering, storage) is a strong advantage.
- Experience leading large teams and managing regulatory or government relationships in Uganda is essential.
