Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Senior Chemist for performing the following duties:-
- Initiating the formulation of polies, regulations and strategies for the development and use of the Chemistry Laboratory;
- Carrying out sampling, sample analysis, results compilation and drafting the chemistry laboratory reports;
- Maintaining scientific equipment and instruments in good working condition at all times;
- Monitoring routine in-house calibration of analytical equipment and monitoring and recording of environmental conditions and generation of quality control charts for the chemistry laboratory;
- Keeping proper documentation of standard operating procedures, test protocols including initiating and conducting method development and validation;
- Enforcing compliance with good laboratory practice requirements at all times in line with the provisions of the ISO/IEC 17025 international guidelines;
- Providing technical support on procurement of chemistry laboratory equipment, reagents and chemicals as well as works and service provision;
- Preparing periodic reports to the Senior Chemist;
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
