Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is pleased to inform the general public that it will conduct a competence-based training to equip all interested persons with technical, legal knowledge, and skills required for repairs/calibrations of all weighing and measuring instruments that are legal for trade use under classes A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. The training will be subject to the following conditions:

a) All interested persons who have technical and metrological training skills under the classes A, B, C, D, E, F, and G, with a Certificate of Competence issued by a recognized institution or standards body.

b) For non-automatic weighing instruments like counter-machines, spring balances (Class A), and platform machines (Class B), the minimum qualification for candidates is a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent or higher.

c) For electronic weighing equipment (Class F) and weighbridges (Class C), the minimum qualification for candidates is a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent or higher with a bias in Physics, Mathematics, or electronics;

d) Repair technicians for fuel pumps (Class D), Bulk Meters (Class E), and tank calibration services (Class G), the minimum qualification for candidates is Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent or higher with a bias in Physics, Mathematics, or electronics, or a craftsmanship certificate.

The training fees for the different classes are shown in the table below.

Payments of the training fees to UNBS should be made via the URA Platform.

Submit your application to the nearby UNBS office not later than June 30th, 2026.
