The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks. The company sales and distributes electricity in Uganda as per ERA License issued on 31 December 2024 covering over 135 political districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda.
UEDCL is seeking to recruit qualified, competent and highly motivated Ugandans to fill the following positions;
Job Purpose
To design, draft and develop accurate Computer- Aided Design (CAD) drawings and models to support UEDCL's engineering projects and operations. The CAD officer is also responsible for maintaining an accurate and updated CAD database while ensuring that all the designs are efficient, accurate, functional and meet both practical and regulatory requirements.
Working Environment
Office-based with occasional visits to project sites. Requires extended periods of working on computer systems.
- Create, update, and maintain technical drawings and schematics for electrical distribution projects.
- Work closely with engineers and project teams to ensure drawings meet design specifications and standards.
- Maintain an organized database of all CAD drawings and related documentation for easy retrieval.
- Review and validate drawings for accuracy, compliance, and adherence to UEDCL standards.
- Provide CAD- related technical support and training to team members as needed.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other CAD software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and design standards.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of GIS software like Arc-Map and Arc-Pro is an added advantage.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a CAD environment, preferably in an electrical engineering environment.
- Knowledge of substation design is an added advantage.
