Job Title: Brand and marketing officer Reports to: Business Development and Brand Manager Based in: Kampala, Uganda Department: Business Development Job purpose: To build market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships. Job Summary: The Brand and Marketing Officer is responsible for managing and developing a company's brand presence to attract and retain customers. This role involves creating marketing strategies, implementing campaigns, and ensuring brand consistency across all communication channels. They will drive customer engagement and enhance the brand's visibility and reputation in the market. Key responsibilities and accountabilities: 1. Deliver the set Departmental Target on Business Growth and Profitability. 2. Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships. 3. Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs. 4. Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs. 5. Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends. 6. Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales. 7. Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the departmentâs unique selling propositions and differentiators. 8. Develop brand strategy including managing marketing campaigns and online platforms to ensure that products and services meet customersâ expectations and to build credibility of the brand. 9. Create and manage promotional collateral to establish and maintain product branding. 10. Manage and budget for advertising and promotional items. 11. Organize events such as product launches and exhibitions. 12. Plan, execute, and measure the success of marketing campaigns to promote products or services. 13. Collaborate with creative teams to develop compelling content for digital, print, and social media channels. 14. Conduct research to understand target audience preferences, trends, and competitor activities. 15. Translate insights into actionable marketing strategies to achieve business objectives. 16. Oversee social media strategy and engagement, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines. 17. Work closely with sales, product development, and other departments to align marketing efforts with company goals. 18. Maintain relationships with external partners, such as advertising agencies and media outlets. 19. Plan and execute brand-related events, sponsorships, and activations to build awareness and engagement. 20. Represent the brand at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities. Qualifications ⢠Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field ⢠2-4 years of experience in brand management, marketing, or a similar role. ⢠Proven track record of managing successful marketing campaigns. Skills, knowledge, and abilities 1. Skill in customer service & support and training with demonstrated customer service orientation. 2. Strong and well developed analytical and report writing skills. 3. Quick learner with demonstrated product knowledge and professionalism. 4. Excellence in problem solving skills. 5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills â both written and verbal. 6. Team player, with ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with customers and other service delivery functions. 7. Self-starter with possession of self-management and self-drive to complete tasks and engage customers. 8. Proactive and highly organized, with strong time management and planning skills. 9. Ability to work under tight deadlines, heavy workloads and remain calm under pressure with a high degree of individual responsibility, all of which are implicit with the position. Attitudes and Behavior The Brand and Marketing officer is a conspicuous position to Smartâs customers and has a high impact to the Smart brand. The Brand and A Marketing Officer should be a champion whose enthusiasm, dedication, passion and conviction to Smart and Smartâs solutions should be an example to both customers and other Smart officers. The individual must be able to listen, maintain a very detailed list of daily duties including all problems and correspondence and follow up on all activities and respond to all customer issues.
