Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities The Assistant Technician will be responsibilities to the Senior Assistant Technician for carrying out the following duties and responsibilities: - - To clean and sterilize laboratory glass ware, surfaces and equipment /machines;
- To package, transport, submit, process and preserve test samples;
- To receive and record submitted samples;
- To prepare laboratory reagents;
- To document and receive samples for analysis;
- To dispose laboratory waste in appropriate manner;
- To stock take & record laboratory/workshop inventories;
- To assist in setting up routine experiments;
- In the case special needs, to assist in setting up braille, white cane, sign language, audiology equipment and other special needs education equipment.
Key Result Areas - Clean and sterilized laboratory glass ware, surfaces and equipment maintained;
- Test samples processed, packaged, transported, submitted and preserved in timely manner;
- Samples received, recorded and submitted;
- Laboratory reagents prepared appropriately;
- Samples for analysis documented and received;
- Laboratory waste disposed in appropriate manner;
- Stock taking and laboratory inventories maintained;
- Routine experiments set up;
- Software installation and maintenance done;
- Equipment for special needs (braille, white cane, sign language, and audiology) set up.
Requirements Person Specifications 1. Academic qualifications - Must have an Ordinary Diploma with at least a credit in Home Economics from a recognized awarding university/institution.
- A relevant work experience is an added advantage
2. Technical Skills - Computer application skills
- Planning, technical, organizing and budgeting skills
- Supervisory skills
3. Behavioral Skills - Communication Skills
- Concern for quality and standards
- Interpersonal skills
- Team work
4. Age Limit: Must not be above 55 years at the time of application. - To clean and sterilize laboratory glass ware, surfaces and equipment /machines;
