JOB DETAILS: JOB TITLE: Assistant Programs Director LINE MANAGER: Station Manager REPORTS TO: Programs Director and Station Manager SUPPORT STRUCTURE: Human Resource Officer STATION: Gugudde T.V WORKING HOURS: A maximum of 48 hours a week, normally 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM NOTE: All staff may be expected to work extra hours at times, in evenings, week- ends, or public holidays depending on station events; Staff are entitled and encouraged to take adequate time off in lieu when this occurs. JOB PURPOSE Assist in Coordinating and monitoring programs for Gugudde television station’s broadcasts and participate in program promotions RESPONSIBILITIES The Assistant Programs Director shall assist the Program’s Director to; 1. Ensure program quality for broadcast by deciding whether program content(type) is technically acceptable. 2. Participate in program acquisition by recommending suitable programs for purchase. 3. Respond to viewers’ comments and questions, and complaints regarding television programming /schedules. 4. Coordinates broadcast traffic and logging activities as it relates to program scheduling. 5. Develop alternatives to planned schedules, assist in authorizing last-minute changes, and replace material. 6. Confers with the promotional department to discuss content of programs scheduled and helps determine which programs to promote. 7. Ensure timely airing of programs as per the schedule by coordinating with the Transmission Operators. 8. Conduct periodic reviews of content to keep relevant to the station’s audience. 9. Monitor all station programs and ensure the highest quality programming 10. Producing the Makerere Full Gospel Church services 11. Any other duties assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES • Knowledge of broadcast rules, regulations, and guidelines • Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles to ensure peak performance of staff. • Knowledge of content management especially the creation and maintenance of robust content storage and archiving Library of station content. • Ability to work under pressure and extra hours. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’ degree in Radio/Television/Broadcasting/Mass Communication • At least 3 years’ experience in TV programming. SOFT SKILLS • Creativity and Innovation to promote innovation. • Excellent communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively.• Problem-solving: Ability to resolve technical problems. • Teamwork: Ability to work harmoniously with other departments PERSON SPECIFICATION • Must be a born-again Christian. • Must belong to a cell and possess a recommendation letter from the zone leader. • Age 25 – 35 years Work Hours: 8 Experience in Months: 36 Level of Education: Bachelor Degree
