The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring sound financial management, accountability, and compliance across our programs helping to strengthen the financial backbone that supports our environmental and community-focused projects. Key Responsibilities - Financial Processing & Bookkeeping: Process accounts payable and receivable, manage petty cash, and ensure timely payments.
- Payroll Support: Assist in preparing monthly payroll and statutory deductions in compliance with Ugandan laws.
- Bank Reconciliation: Conduct timely and accurate bank reconciliations for CECIC accounts.
- Grant & Donation Management: Support the financial administration and reporting of grants and donor funds.
- Budget Monitoring: Collaborate with project teams to track expenditures and prepare financial reports.
- Record Keeping: Maintain an organized electronic and physical filing system for financial documents.
- Audit & Compliance: Prepare and provide documentation for both internal and external audits.
- Administrative Support: Offer general assistance to the finance team and other departments as needed.
Qualifications and Experience Essential: - Diploma or Bachelorâs degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1â2 years of relevant experience in a finance or accounting role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Desirable: - Previous experience in a non-profit or NGO setting.
- Familiarity with donor financial reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of Ugandan tax regulations applicable to NGOs.
