MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT
WWF Uganda as part of the WWF Network strives to ensure that people live in harmony with nature. In line with the country’s vision 2040 and our own organisational country strategic plan, we focus on ensuring a low carbon development pathway that brings benefits to local communities.
The Forests and Biodiversity program strives to ensure that forest landscapes are restored and they provide the ecosystem goods and services to the communities and local population; while ensuring respect for human rights and conservation that will spur development in the country.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS
The intern will work together with the Project team to incorporate sustainable food system approaches within the general implementation framework for specific projects.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
â— Undertake economic analysis of agricultural interventions to demonstrate their profitability and contribution towards the overall conservation objectives and agenda of WWF.
◠Provide technical knowledge and advice on agricultural practices and components that yield best results in line with the organization’s ambitions of a ‘low carbon development pathway.’
â— Prepare activity concept notes and reports.
â— Work with the project team to review reports and provide feedback.
â— Participate in project field activities and collaboration with partners; generating learnings that can be incorporated into the project.
Required qualifications
◠Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Land use & Management, Agriculture and Rural Innovation; Agricultural Economics, Forestry, Agroforestry, or any related field.
â— 0- 2 years of experience post-graduation.
Required Skills and Competencies:
â— Good computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft office applications.
â— A willing and quick learner with a desire for knowledge and skill acquisition.
â— Basic knowledge and skills in data analysis and report writing.
â— Comfortable working and engaging with rural community members.
â— Able to work within teams, with an innovative mindset to spur action
â— Fluency in Runyakitara is an added advantage.
â— Identifies and aligns with the core values of the WWF organisation: Courage, Integrity, Respect & Collaboration.
