In Uganda, we are currently seeking to recruita Utilities Operator at our Namanve Plant in Kampala. As a Utilities Operator, you will report directly to the Utilities Controller. Key Purpose Statement. To safely and reliably operate utilities equipment in line with work instructions while monitoring performance and performing routine maintenance to support continuous plant operations. Key Duties & Responsibilities KEY OUTPUTS & ACCOUNTABILITIES. - Operate and monitor utilities plant equipment; including boilers, CO2 supply systems, air compressors, water treatment systems, and refrigeration units.
- Conduct Inspections & Troubleshoot Issues; perform routine inspections, record key operating parameters, identify equipment abnormalities, and escalate breakdowns promptly. Complete Root Cause Analysis for all breakdowns recorded.
- Perform first-line maintenance and assist the maintenance team in planned and unplanned shutdowns.
- Embrace the Supply Chain Work Practices in the Utilities area.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, environment, quality standards (SHEQ), food safety and GMP standards
- Drive Efficiency & Continuous Improvement; Participate in initiatives to reduce energy consumption, optimize plant performance, and support ongoing improvement activities.
- Reporting; Maintain accurate and timely utilities logs and daily reports.
Skills, Experience & Education Qualifications. - Minimum: Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or any other related field.
- Added Advantage: Certification in Boiler Operations.
Experience - Minimum; Two (2) years relevant technical experience in Utilities Plant Operations in FMCG environment.
Competencies. - Teamwork & Collaboration; Works effectively with diverse teams and remains flexible across different tasks.
- Communication & Shift Coordination; Communicates clearly during shifts and handovers, accurately recording issues, risks, and improvements.
- Problem Solving & Diagnostic Ability; Identifies root causes using structured problem-solving tools and escalates unresolved issues appropriately.
- Judgement & Decision Making; Makes timely, disciplined decisions with sound risk awareness in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Results & Execution Focus; Demonstrates operating discipline and resilience to complete tasks safely, accurately, and on time.
- Customer & Business Focus; Understands the impact of utilities on production continuity and quality, proactively managing operational risks.
