The role will support smallholder farmers, producer groups, cooperatives, and agribusiness enterprises to improve market access, increase profitability, strengthen business capacity, and promote inclusive economic growth among refugee and host communities. The Officer will facilitate the commercialization of climate-smart agriculture through stronger market linkages, enterprise development, financial inclusion, and sustainable agricultural value chains. - Lead implementation of agribusiness development activities across project locations.
- Support farmers and producer groups to transition from subsistence to market-oriented agriculture.
- Promote entrepreneurship and income-generating opportunities among project beneficiaries.
- Identify profitable climate-smart agricultural enterprises and business opportunities.
- Support farmer groups and agribusinesses to develop and implement business plans.
- Conduct market assessments and agricultural value chain analyses.
- Identify market opportunities, constraints, and potential areas for growth.
- Facilitate inclusive market systems benefiting both refugee and host communities.
- Strengthen relationships between: Farmers, Buyers, Processors, Input suppliers, Financial institutions
- Support structured marketing systems and aggregation centres.
- Promote market-driven production and commercialization strategies.
- Support development and strengthening of priority agricultural value chains.
- Promote value addition to improve competitiveness and profitability.
- Identify opportunities for market diversification.
- Promote climate-smart agribusiness models.
- Support producer organizations to improve product quality and meet market standards.
- Facilitate access to: Financial institutions, Savings groups, Agricultural loans, Microfinance services
- Promote financial literacy among beneficiaries.
- Support establishment and strengthening of: Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), Producer cooperatives
- Promote investment within agricultural value chains.
- Deliver training on: Agribusiness management, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Financial management, Business planning
- Build the capacity of: Farmer groups, Cooperatives, Youth groups, Women-led enterprises
- Organize exchange visits, learning events, and business forums.
- Promote participation of women, youth, refugees, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.
- Maintain databases for agribusiness and market systems activities.
- Monitor agricultural markets and value chain performance.
- Collect and analyse project data.
- Prepare periodic technical reports.
- Document: Success stories, Lessons learned, Innovations, Best practices
- Support project evaluations and learning initiatives.
- Collaborate with: Government agencies, Private sector actors, Business associations, Financial institutions, NGOs, Development partners
- Participate in coordination meetings and technical working groups.
- Build partnerships that strengthen project sustainability.
- Liaise with refugee settlement leadership and local government authorities.
- Ensure compliance with: Donor requirements, Organizational policies, Project guidelines
- Promote: Gender equality, Social inclusion, Environmental sustainability, Safeguarding principles
- Ensure transparency and accountability in project implementation.
- Strong knowledge of agribusiness development.
- Understanding of agricultural value chains.
- Knowledge of Market Systems Development (MSD) approaches.
- Knowledge of: Agricultural marketing, Business planning, Enterprise development
- Understanding of rural finance and financial inclusion.
- Experience conducting: Market assessments, Value chain analyses, Market linkage facilitation
- Understanding of climate-smart agriculture and resilient market systems.

- Bachelor's Degree in Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics from a recognized institution.
- Training or certification in: Value Chain Development, Market Systems Development (MSD), Enterprise Development, Rural Finance, Project Management, Climate-Smart Agriculture, Agribusiness Management, Entrepreneurship
- Minimum 5 years' progressive experience in agribusiness development, market systems strengthening, or value chain management.
- Experience implementing agricultural commercialization and enterprise development programmes.
- Experience working in: Refugee settlements, Humanitarian settings, Rural development programmes
- Demonstrated experience facilitating: Market linkages, Business development services, Financial inclusion initiatives
- Experience working with: Farmer organizations, Cooperatives, Producer groups, Private-sector partners
- Experience implementing donor-funded agricultural development projects.
- Knowledge of digital reporting tools, data analysis software, and agribusiness information systems is an added advantage.
