Abaana Ministries, a Christian NGO dedicated to empowering vulnerable children, invites applications from mature Christians for an Administrative Assistant position.
Title and purpose:
Administrative Assistant
Supporting the administration function in clerical work, logistics, and office support.
Duty station:
Office-based in Kira, Wakiso, with occasional town-based fieldwork.
Personal qualities
As Abaana is a Christian organisation supported mainly by churches from the UK and Ireland and works mainly with church partners in Uganda, there is an operational requirement for this role that we require a born-again Christian.
Qualifications
Essential
Diploma in business, finance, secretarial studies or equivalent.
Must be proficient in Email and Word with a particular focus on Excel.
Experience and skills
Essential
At least three years' work in a non-profit office setting (Christian faith-based NGO or Non-Christian).
At least two years' experience handling cash and keeping records in order.
At least two years' driving (manual and automatic) with a clean driving permit (for a car and/or motorbike).
Desired
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Business Studies, Finance, Secretarial, or similar).
Able to manage multiple duties.
Experience and skills
Desired
Experience working alongside a variety of people from different backgrounds, with strong interpersonal skills.
Very organised with previous responsibilities related to keeping stocks and records well.
Summary of Key Duties.
The successful candidate will provide cashiering, financial and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the organisation. Key responsibilities will include maintaining accurate financial and office records, supporting procurement and payments, managing office supplies and stores, coordinating routine office errands and correspondence, maintaining operational records, taking minutes at staff meetings, and providing driving support as required.
