1. ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND Light for Disability Transformation (LIDIT) is a community-based organization committed to promoting inclusive development by empowering deaf persons and other persons with disabilities (PWDs) through holistic, family-centered approaches. LIDIT works at the grassroots to dismantle stigma, promote integration, and create inclusive systems where PWDs are recognized as contributors to development. Our interventions focus on inclusive education, economic empowerment, advocacy, and capacity building under our flagship program known as SIGNO. 2. PROJECT OVERVIEW: HEARD PROJECT The HEARD Project (Home-based Empowerment and Advocacy for Guardians of Deaf Children in Koboko) is a 10-month initiative implemented by LIDIT with financial support from the Haella Stichting Foundation. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of families, particularly parents and guardians of deaf children, to provide inclusive care, psychosocial support, and empowerment at the household level. To achieve this, LIDIT has developed a unique toolâthe LIDIT Household Inclusion Framework (LHIF)âwhich classifies households based on their level of disability inclusion and guides tailored interventions for transformation. 3. POSITION: DATA COLLECTORS (4 POSITIONS) LIDIT is seeking competent and sign language-literate individuals to serve as Data Collectors for a household-based survey and beneficiary identification exercise in Koboko Municipality. This fieldwork is part of the baseline activities for the HEARD Project. 4. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES -
Administer LIDITâs structured Household Inclusion Framework (LHIF) tool to 50 selected households. -
Collect accurate, respectful, and confidential household-level data on disability inclusion. -
Identify 30 eligible households for further participation in the HEARD project. -
Ensure daily reporting of data and field updates to the project team. -
Uphold ethical, inclusive, and culturally sensitive engagement throughout the assignment. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Minimum Requirements: -
Proficiency in Uganda Sign Language (USL) â This is a mandatory requirement. -
A Certificate or Diploma in Social Sciences, Community Development, Special Needs Education, Public Health, or related field. -
Prior experience in data collection, field research, or community surveys is highly preferred. -
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. -
Ability to speak local languages used in Koboko Municipality is an added advantage. -
Demonstrated understanding of disability rights and inclusive development principles. 6. ASSIGNMENT DETAILS Dates of Fieldwork: 15th to 18th July 2025 Location: Koboko Municipality (Household visits) Working Hours: Flexible field hours depending on household availability Compensation: A modest facilitation package will be provided to cover transportation, meals, and communication during fieldwork. 7.
