The role also provides analytical support to Finance and other insurance business lines to enable informed business decisions and sustainable portfolio growth. Key Responsibilities Pricing & Product Support - Support pricing of new and renewal medical insurance business.
- Assess premium adequacy and prepare quotations.
- Develop pricing recommendations using:
- Claims experience
- Medical inflation
- Utilization trends
- Scheme demographics
- Support benefit design reviews by assessing the cost impact of:
- Benefit changes
- Co-payments
- Deductibles
- Hospital restrictions
Portfolio Analysis & Reporting - Analyze:
- Claims experience
- Loss ratios
- Utilization trends
- Identify key cost drivers and emerging risks.
- Prepare portfolio performance reports to support underwriting and business decisions.
- Produce recurring actuarial reports, including:
- Loss ratio analysis
- Claims ratio studies
- Average premium analysis
- Lost schemes analysis
- Benefit depletion analysis
- Monthly medical portfolio performance reports
Data Analysis & Actuarial Support - Perform:
- Data extraction
- Data validation
- Data reconciliation
- Data analysis
- Assist in developing and maintaining:
- Actuarial models
- Pricing tools
- Reporting dashboards
Process Improvement - Support automation and process improvement initiatives within the actuarial function.
- Participate in projects and contribute to delivery within agreed scope, timelines, and quality standards.

- Provide actuarial insights to support business decisions.
Compliance & AML Responsibilities The role requires adherence to Old Mutual's Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Sanctions policies by: - Following AML, KYC, and Sanctions procedures.
- Supporting Customer Due Diligence (CDD).
- Conducting ongoing and enhanced due diligence where required.
- Maintaining high-quality customer data.
- Identifying suspicious transactions or compliance breaches.
- Escalating risks to the Risk & Compliance Office.
Qualifications Required - Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science or a related quantitative discipline.
- Recent graduate or up to 1 year of relevant internship or work experience.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
