Key Responsibilities - Financial Transactions Processing
- Prepare payment vouchers, receipts, and journal entries in line with approved budgets and guidelines
- Ensure that all payments are fully supported with required documentation and approvals
- Bookkeeping and Record Keeping
- Post financial transactions into the accounting system
- Maintain proper and updated ledger accounts and financial records
- File all financial documents in an orderly and retrievable manner
- Cash and Bank Management
- Assist in cash management including petty cash operations and reconciliation
- Participate in bank reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items
- Budget and Expenditure Monitoring
- Assist in tracking departmental expenditures against budget allocations
- Prepare budget utilization reports for review by the Accountant
- Statutory Compliance
- Prepare supporting documentation for statutory deductions such as PAYE, NSSF, and Local Service Tax
- Assist in the timely preparation and submission of statutory returns
- Audit and Reporting Support
- Provide support during internal and external audits by availing requested documents and explanations
- Assist in the preparation of periodic financial reports
- Procurement and Inventory Support
- Provide financial documentation for procurement processes
- Work with the stores team to reconcile financial records with stock movements and balances

Qualifications and Experience - Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration (Accounting option) or a related field from a recognized institution
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is an added advantage
- Part professional qualification (Level I or II of CPA, ACCA) is an added advantage
- At least 2 years of relevant working experience in a similar role, preferably in a public or academic institution
Skills and Attributes a) Technical Skills - Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications
- Knowledge of financial regulations and accounting procedures
- Ability to maintain accurate financial records
b) Personal Attributes - High level of integrity and professionalism
