This role ensures all project funds are managed transparently, efficiently, and in strict accordance with donor guidelines, international accounting standards, and World Vision Uganda policies to deliver maximum value for money. Key Result Areas & Responsibilities 1. Financial Management & Accounting - Maintain accurate, up-to-date project cash books, ledgers, and financial records.
- Process all financial transactions (payments, receipts, journal entries, bank reconciliations) ensuring proper authorization and supporting documentation.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing procedures.
2. Budget Planning & Monitoring - Collaborate on the design of project budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Track spending trends, monitor variance against approved budgets, and advise project management on financial performance.
3. Financial Reporting - Generate timely, accurate financial statements and compliance reports for donors, management, and project partners.
4. Compliance, Internal Controls & Audit - Maintain robust internal controls to secure project assets.
- Coordinate internal/external audits, prepare audit schedules, and actively implement audit recommendations.
- Ensure strict adherence to Ugandan tax laws, procurement protocols, and donor funding agreements.
5. Asset & Inventory Management - Maintain a precise registry of project assets, coordinating periodic physical verifications, tagging, and appropriate disposal.
Qualifications & Experience Academic & Professional Requirements - Education: Bachelorâs Degree in Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Economics, Commerce, or Business Administration (Accounting/Finance option) from a recognized institution.
- Professional Certification: Active certification in CPA, ACCA, CA, or an equivalent professional qualification is mandatory.
Work Experience - Minimum of five (5) years of progressive financial management and accounting experience specifically within donor-funded projects.
- Strong background working with international NGOs, development agencies, or government-funded initiatives.
- Hands-on experience with audit coordination, financial risk management, and grant compliance.
- Added Advantage: Prior financial experience in agricultural, food security, climate-resilience, or humanitarian/refugee-focused programs.
Technical & Software Skills - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using major financial management software (e.g., SUN Systems, Navision, QuickBooks, Tally, or Sage).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Your performance in this role will be measured by: - The accuracy and timeliness of financial reports and transactions.
- Compliance with donor, statutory, and organizational financial regulations.
- Successful completion of audits with minimal findings.
- Clean maintenance of financial records, asset registers, and supporting paperwork.
