- Post monthly lease related journals and reconciliation of various general ledger accounts as they pertain to Leases
- Coordinate with legal, technology and facilities to capture new lease contracts and modifications.
- Liaise with Accounts Payable to ensure lessor are timely paid
- Notify Legal of about to expire lease agreements so that they are timely renewed
- Prepare monthly reports relating to asset leases
Project Accounting - Monitor and control capital budget by ensuring demand requests qualify for capital spend and that funds are available for spend
- Analyse projects budgets and actuals to investigate variances
- Monitors the financial progress of capital projects and advise the projects team on accounting and implications of spend decisions
- Reconcile cost accounting module transit accounts to ensure they are manually cleared
- Ensure costs relating to completed projects are accurately rolled up and individual assets are created.
- Prepare CWIP Aging report on monthly basis to guide in technical working capital management
- Respond to CWIP and Project Accounting audit queries
- Liaise with BOOST resources to ensure system errors are timely resolved; system reports issues are fixed
- Reconciliation of GL WIP account balances against the WIP listing report and offer timely explanations and resolutions for any variance(s)
- Prepare Capex additions per Project from the Boost Actual additions report on a monthly basis
- Reconcile monthly Capitalisation against systems Asset additions report.
- Liaise with Project Managers to have all completed projects closed and related costs Capitalised
- Keep a record of documents to support WIP transactions that meets Audit requirements.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting for leases and PPE
Reporting & Compliance - Ensure compliance with IFRS and internal accounting policies.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to leases and CWIP.
- Assist in preparing financial statements and disclosures related to leases and CWIP.
- Respond to internal and external audit queries.
- Regular project reports to key stakeholders
Education - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Statistics or related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is required or in progress.
Work Experience - Minimum 3 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably with exposure to IFRS 16 and project accounting.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g.Oracle, MRI) and Excel.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
Industry / Certifications - Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (preferred)
- Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) (preferred)
COMPETENCIES - Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong understanding of IFRS 16 and fixed asset lifecycle
- Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and finance teams
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work under minimum supervision
