JOB DETAILS: The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) seeks to hire suitable candidates to fill SURVEY CLINICIAN positions for a new project called UnMASC. This is a field-based position and project activities will take place in the following districts: Jinja, Busia, Mayuge, Arua, Koboko, Gulu, Kwania, Kyegegwa and Moyo. .
Duties and Responsibilitiesâ˘ Conduct community sensitization.â˘ Sensitize heads of households about the UnMasc study including the household survey and the clinical survey of children.â˘ Seek consent for participation in the cross-âsectional community household and clinical surveys.â˘ Administer the household survey questionnaire to heads of household with the research assistant.â˘ Map households using hand held GPS device.â˘ Screen and enroll household children into the clinical survey.â˘ Perform clinical examinations and laboratory evaluations on study participants in the clinical surveyâ˘ Appropriately manage and refer ill participants during the clinical surveys.â˘ Ensure accurate labelling, packaging and timely transport of all laboratory specimens from the field.â˘ Ensure accurate and proper completion of all study logs, questionnaires and case record forms.â˘ Assist with organization and filing of study forms and generation of reports in collaboration with the study coordinators and data management team.â˘ Maintain confidentiality of records and research findings as appropriate.â˘ Take part in regular team meetings.
Required qualifications and other desirables for the job:â˘ A Diploma in Clinical Medicine and community healthâ˘ At least â3 years progressive work experience in a clinical/research settingâ˘ Registered with the Allied Health Professionals Councilâ˘ Good knowledge of GCP and HSP with valid certificatesâ˘ Willingness to live and work up country in Ugandaâ˘ Willing to work extra hours and travel long distances in rural settings.â˘ Previous experience in any community surveys will be an added advantageâ˘ Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permitâ˘ Ability to speak at least one language commonly used in Eastern, Western, West Nile and Northern Uganda
