This is an internship position, which will follow internship policies for compensation. This position will require supporting students in person lessons and a project implementation, lesson preparation and coordination. KEY RESULT AREAS - Prepare for and facilitate whole and small group classes with provided curriculum focusing on skills necessary for success in tertiary education programs
- Supervise and support studentsâ independent English and/or Math skill-based practice
- Provide independent learning support for students before and/or after assigned classes
- Track and record attendance for assigned sessions
- Provide accurate information about tertiary education programs and admissions deadlines, as well as support with the completion of applications (scholarships and jobs)
- Collaborate with other, Iteme Fellows, Preparation Program Manager, and partner staff to problem solve and implement solutions around classrooms, technology, and student issues,
- Manage and organize classroom teaching materials; including properly storing/moving materials and checking on/communicating around available supplies
- Manage and organize classroom furniture, ensuring learning spaces are prepared in advance of classes
- Support with educating people about and promoting the Kepler brand; including welcoming visitors and serving as a Kepler ambassador(s), participate in trainings,
- Maintain accurately and up to date records of student performance as assigned
- Other duties and tasks assigned by the supervisor
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: - Bachelorâs Degree or Diploma in Secondary Education (English/Literature), Psychology and Counselling, Development studies or Social Sciences
- Instructional & Pedagogical Skills: Classroom facilitation (whole and small group teaching), Differentiated instruction, Student-centred and competency-based learning methodologies
- Knowledge of Complementary Pathways and Bridging Programs
- Demonstrating strong communication skills
- Demonstrating professionalism and good working ethics, ready to serve as a role model in a community
- Ready to work in refugee camps & move from one site to another when needed.
- Interested in the field of education and a desire to learn pedagogical strategies and student support mechanisms
- Ability to work independently and creatively solving problem
- Comfortable living and working in a rural refugee settlement
