Our client is a Steel Manufacturing Company – one of the largest Uganda-based manufacturers and distributors of steel building materials. Madhvani Steel is looking for a competent and experienced Welder/Fabricator (2) to be based in Jinja, Uganda

Reports To: Mechanical Supervisor
Duty Station: Jinja, Uganda

Job Summary: The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for welding of aluminum and steel (also, stainless steel) parts. Each job must be run with safety, accuracy and timeliness in the welding area.

Key Responsibilities
• Facilitate installation of machinery & fabrication of company facilities including tanks and other special equipment.
• Review and identify material need and place requisition for such equipment and associated spare parts.
• Maintain safe custody of tools and equipment allocated.
• Analyse engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Maintain high safety measures during the day-to-day operations.
• Operate heavy equipment such as industrial saws and other heavy tools.
• Review the different methods of welding and provide guidance on appropriately.
• Plan and prepare maintenance schedules of all the welding operations.
• Review and follow all Standard Operating Procedures while working and as guided by the Mechanical Supervisor.
• Any other duties assigned by Mechanical Supervisor.

Educational Qualifications and Experience
• Certificate in Welding and Fabrication.
• A diploma in mechanical engineering is an added advantage
• 2 years relevant work experience in a similar field.
