Job Summary: The Locum Study Midwife will support implementation of the Maternal Ultrasound Observational Study for Machine Learning Model Training study (AI US Scan study) being implemented at Kawempe National Referral Hospital. She will work together with the study team at the hospital to screen, obtain informed consent, enrol participants and conduct study procedures, in order to meet the study recruitment targets. The Locum Study midwife will ensure high level confidentiality and adherence to international and national GCP guidelines whilst providing care to the study participants.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Screen potential study participants from patients attending Kawempe National Referral Hospital.
- Enrol and register eligible study participants as per protocol.
- Obtain and document informed participant consent from study participants.
- Collect samples to support study specific laboratory tests as required per protocol.
- Perform assigned study ultrasound scans under the Novice scans category, as per protocol.
- Participate in routine QA/QC checks for study documents.
- Complement the efforts of facility staff and will be called upon to provide care to non-study participants whenever feasible.
- Perform any other study related tasks as delegated by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma in Midwifery
- Good Clinical Practice certification
Person Specification
- Full registration with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council
- Good working knowledge of Midwifery practices
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with study participants and other stakeholders.
- Language proficiency in English. Luganda is desirable.
- Strong organizational skills
- ICT skills
- Interest in digital health technologies is highly desirable.
